About St. Vlas and Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach is the most attractive and fastest growing resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Its sandy beach is ten kilometers long and more than 100 m wide. It is believed that St. Vlas was founded in the 2nd century BC as a Thracian settlement called, “Larissa”. In the 14th century it acquired the name Sveti Vlas - a legendary farmer, healer and protector of merchants. The settlement was declared town in 2006 and nowadays has a permanent local population of more than 3000 inhabitants. The perfect combination of mountain and sea contributes to the unique climate conditions and has healing effects on lung diseases. With its beaches with a total length of 1.5 km and an attractive marina. Sveti Vlas is a favorite place for recreation of many Bulgarians and foreigners.
